Global Electronic Music Industry Hits $15.1 Billion, IMS Ibiza Report Finds
The global electronic music industry reached $15.1 billion in 2026, a record figure according to the IMS Business Report presented at International Music Summit (IMS) Ibiza, as reported by The DJ Mixtape.
Despite the record overall figure, the report highlights growing pressure on mid-tier producer-DJs, who are increasingly squeezed between algorithmic streaming dynamics, the rising availability of AI production tools, and the cost of mounting a live show. Streaming platforms are reportedly adding more than 100,000 new tracks per day industry-wide, a volume the report suggests has pushed curation โ rather than track production alone โ into one of the most valuable skills a working DJ can offer.
The shift reflects a broader theme across 2026 industry commentary: strong aggregate growth for the genre overall doesn't necessarily translate into easier economics for individual producers, particularly those without an established audience or curatorial reputation.
